🌿 Birch water (Hydrolat)

A gentle, natural distillate crafted from birch leaves. This refreshing floral water carries the authentic fragrance of birch groves, offering purifying, revitalising, and balancing effects for both skin and senses. Perfect as a facial toner, body mist, or an aromatic addition to wellness rituals, it hydrates and invigorates while leaving a delicate birch scent.

🌿 What is Birch Hydrolat?

Hydrolat, also known as floral water, is a by‑product of essential oil distillation. It contains a small amount of birch essential oil molecules, but at a much lower concentration than the oil itself.

Hydrolates are water condensates – the by‑products of essential oil production through steam distillation. This colloidal microparticle system of plant actives (the sol) contains various hydrophilic biologically active substances and a trace of essential oil, which acts as a natural preservative, extending the shelf life of hydrolates for up to two years.

These plant waters have a more subtle and delicate scent compared to essential oils. Hydrolates typically contain only 0.01–0.1% of essential oils. As a result, they can be used safely and effectively in aromatherapy for both adults and children.

This makes birch hydrolat gentler, less irritating, and suitable for everyday use.

🌿 Endless Ways to Use Hydrolat

You’ll be amazed at how many different uses hydrolat has! Spray it directly onto the skin or hair in its pure form, add it to creams, masks, scrubs, or bath water, make wraps and compresses for problem areas, or use it to bring fragrant freshness to clothing and to humidify the air at home.

Hydrolat also helps to neutralise the drying effects of long flights, as well as the impact of indoor heating and air‑conditioned cars – simply spraying is the easiest way.

In short, a bottle of this delicately scented water becomes your indispensable companion for maintaining beauty, youth, and good mood.
Free from alcohol and preservatives.

🌿 Ingredients

Betula alba leaf water – pure steam‑distilled.

⚠️ Possible Limitations

  • Allergies: Although rare, as with any plant‑based product, individual sensitivity may occur. It is recommended to perform a skin patch test before first use.

Betula alba leaf water – pure steam‑distilled.

⚠️ Possible Limitations

  • Allergies: Although rare, as with any plant‑based product, individual sensitivity may occur. It is recommended to perform a skin patch test before first use.

Benefits

  • Skin care: moisturises, tones, soothes irritated or blemished skin, and reduces redness.
  • Hair care: strengthens roots, reduces dandruff, regulates oiliness, and adds shine.
  • Breathing & wellbeing: supports easier breathing, calms the nervous system, and uplifts mood.
  • Daily use: works as a natural toner, facial or body mist, hair moisturiser, and can even be used to flavour food and drinks (e.g., tea).

Storage conditions

  • Store in a dark place below 17 °C.
  • Storing at room temperature significantly reduces the shelf life of the hydrolate.
  • Hydrolates may become slightly cloudy at ambient temperatures above 10 °C – this is a natural process and does not affect quality.
  • Winter season: As a liquid product, hydrolates may freeze in cold weather. For this reason, we recommend choosing home delivery rather than parcel lockers.

How it should be used?

🌿 Hydrolates in Spa and Daily Care

Water procedures are an integral part of any spa treatment. Thanks to their naturally acidic pH, hydrolates are excellent for skin hydration, cleansing, rejuvenation, and maintaining healthy skin condition.

Sauna Applications
  • Directly on the skin: spray onto clean, warmed skin for hydration and toning.
  • For hair: moisten hair before or after sauna sessions to ease combing and reduce dandruff.
  • For aroma: add to a bowl of water or a steamer to spread a fresh birch scent throughout the sauna.

Spa Applications

  • Steam rooms (Turkish baths): dilute 1 litre of hydrolate in 50 litres of water to scent steam rooms (45–55 °C, 70–99% relative humidity), using a specialised vaporiser.
  • Hammams: used to humidify and scent the room with a vaporiser.
  • Whirlpool baths: dilute 200 ml of hydrolate in 200 litres of water.
  • Tubs: dilute 200 ml of hydrolate in 200 litres of water.
  • Jacuzzis and pools: dilute 200 ml of hydrolate in 200 litres of water.

Home and Office Use

  • Diffuse, refresh, and humidify the air with special purpose diffusers.
  • Use as a natural indoor air freshener spray.
  • Moisten tissues for gentle skin cleansing (especially convenient when travelling).
  • Prepare cosmetic ice cubes to cool areas affected by bruises, burns, or insect stings.

Sanitary Applications

Hydrolates can be safely used as natural sanitary products:

  • Washing fruit and vegetables (ideal when travelling).
  • Cleaning cutlery, dishes, equipment, and surfaces in the food industry and hotels.
  • Repelling insects at home.
  • As ingredients in vaporisers and floor cleaners.

Cosmetic Applications

With their skin‑friendly acidic pH of 3.5–6.5, hydrolates are excellent for use in cosmetic production. They can enrich the formulations of creams, lotions, soaps, shampoos, and other beauty products.
